He plans your entire mouth as one result, Dr. Karina Acuña handles any surgery, and every crown, bridge and implant tooth is made in the Tooth Studio, our on-site lab.
What “Reconstruction” Actually Means
It is not one procedure. It is a coordinated plan that can include crowns and onlays to rebuild worn teeth, implants for missing ones, veneers where appearance matters most, gum treatment where the foundation needs it, and a rebuilt bite so your jaw joints and muscles stop fighting your teeth. Which of those you need, and in what order, is what the planning phase decides.
See Your Result Before You Commit
Dr. Tostado built his process around the fear every reconstruction patient has: what if I do not like it?
- Your consultation: A complete exam, 3D imaging, photographs and models of your teeth. He listens to what you want changed and tells you plainly what he sees.
- Your diagnostic wax up: A physical model of your proposed result. You can hold it, look at it from every angle and ask for changes.
- Your trial smile: Before anything permanent, you wear provisional teeth built from the approved design. You eat with them, talk with them and live with them. Adjustments are made here, where they are easy.
- Your final result: Dr. Tostado makes the permanent restorations in the Tooth Studio and seats them in planned phases, refining until the bite is right and the smile looks like yours.
Why a Prosthodontist
Any dentist can place a crown. Rebuilding a bite across an entire mouth, so that it functions for decades, is a specialty. Dr. Tostado completed a three year prosthodontics residency at the University of Southern California, has practiced in San Antonio since 2015, and designs and makes his own restorations rather than sending them out. Patients travel for this: one has made a 70 mile round trip to this chair for 35 years, and another drives three hours each way.
When There Is a Deadline
A daughter’s wedding in three weeks. A move overseas. A reunion. We have completed full mouth cases for patients with dates that could not move. If you have one, tell us at the first visit and the plan will be built around it.
Comfort for Long Appointments
Reconstruction means longer visits. Weighted blankets, noise cancelling headphones, warm towels and essential oils are standard, and oral conscious or IV sedation is available for any phase you would rather not be aware of. Nobody here will lecture you about how long it has been.
The Investment
Full mouth reconstruction is one of the largest investments in health most people make, and you deserve to know the number before you decide. You will receive the complete fee in writing at the end of your planning phase, with the sequence of treatment laid out so you can see where each dollar goes. Many patients phase treatment over time, and most finance through Cherry or CareCredit. We file PPO insurance claims for any benefit available.

How long does full mouth reconstruction take?
Anywhere from a few months to over a year, depending on whether implants and healing are involved. You will have a written timeline after the planning phase, and you will have functional, good looking provisional teeth throughout.
How much does full mouth reconstruction cost?
It depends entirely on what your mouth needs, which is why we do not quote a number before the planning phase. When we do, it is the complete fee in writing, phased so you can see the sequence. Financing through Cherry and CareCredit is available.
Is full mouth reconstruction the same as a smile makeover?
A smile makeover is about appearance. Full mouth reconstruction is about rebuilding function, bite and health, and appearance comes with it. Many patients need some of both, and Dr. Tostado plans them together.
Can my worn down teeth be saved instead of replaced?
Often, yes. Dr. Tostado’s approach is conservative: onlays and crowns that rebuild what you have wherever the tooth is sound, implants only where a tooth is truly gone. The trial smile lets you see the plan before it is permanent.
Will I be without teeth at any point?
No. Provisional teeth are placed at every phase, so you always have a working, presentable smile.
Do I need to see other specialists?
Rarely. Dr. Acuña handles extractions, implant placement and surgical procedures in our office, and Dr. Tostado handles the restorative work and the lab. If a case ever needs an outside specialist, we coordinate it for you.
