The Dental Bonding Process

Bonding is a non-invasive cosmetic dental procedure that can normally be completed in one dental visit.

• First, Dr. Tostado will lightly polish your tooth enamel to roughen the surface and help the material create a tight seal with your tooth.
• Next, he applies an etching gel to condition your enamel and help seal the bonding material.
• After that, he adheres the bonding material (a tooth-colored composite resin) to your tooth, molds it into the perfect shape, and sets it with a curing light.
• Finally, Dr. Tostado will polish up your restoration to blend seamlessly with the rest of your tooth.

While the dental bonding process is straightforward, it also requires an artistic eye and careful attention to detail. Dr. Tostado won’t simply patch a piece of white material onto your tooth. Instead, he will carefully layer on the composite material in varying hues and translucencies to perfectly match the shade gradation of your tooth enamel. This will result in a restored tooth that looks as if it had never been damaged.
