Rather than place crowns, where we can we will use ceramic onlays that preserve more of the natural tooth structure. A crown involves shaving down an entire tooth. Biomimetic dentistry, however, removes the damage while carefully preserving tooth structure. Only the damaged or weakened parts of the tooth are covered, and we keep the margins of the restoration above the gumline, which minimizes any irritation to the gums.
